PURPOSE:To enable automatic feed of lead, by arranging a lead storage container for containing a plurality of leads and making a lead drop hole in the center of the bottom thereof while furthermore providing an open/close mechanism interlocked with a controller and tapering the bottom and the circumferential wall of the lead storage container. CONSTITUTION:A stocker 16 is rotary controlled to face a writing instrument P for feeding a lead with a lead supply operation unit 63. An arm 50 is positioned at the arm regulation groove 52 of a cam 46 and the opposite side faces of the arm 50 are contacting with the vertical faces at the opposite ends of the arm regulation groove 52. The arm 50 is interlocked with the cam 46 and the guide groove of the arm 50 moves to the lower end of chuck chips 36, 38 to push up the chuck chips 36, 38 through the upper face around the guide groove. Consequently, the chuck chips 36, 38 lift up while resisting against the resiliency of a coil spring to enlarge the gap between the chuck chips 36, 38 through guidance of a tapered face 34 so as to disengage the lead 30, which falls through the guide groove in the arm 50 and inserted into the lead insertion hole of the writing instrument P. |
