摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent laser output from being lowered even if pressure of laser gas in high by providing electrodes for causing electric discharge therebetween in a circulation path of the laser gas, the electrodes being formed of a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A high speed axial flow type CO2 laser oscillator 1 comprises a laser tube 3 for performing resonant amplification of exciting light and a laser gas circulating device 5 for supplying laser gas consisting of He, N2 and CO3 mixed in proper proportions into the laser tube 3 and circulating the same within the laser tube 3. Electrodes for electric discharge, namely an anode 7 and a cathode 9 are arranged appropriately in the laser tube. Further, a total reflecting mirror 11 and an output mirror 13 are provided at the opposite ends of the laser tube. Electric discharge is caused between the anode 7 and the cathode 9, so that a laser beam LB is emitted from the side of the output mirror 13. The anode 7 and the cathode 9 are formed of a catalyst such as nickel, platinum or rhodium. Accordingly, recombination of CO and O2 caused by dissociation of CO2 for example within the laser tube is accelerated thereby, and the laser output can be prevented from being deteriorated even under a high pressure.
