In order to improve the mechanical stability of the quartz or sapphire rods (4, 5) and to protect them against variations in temperature and against chemically aggressive media, said quartz or sapphire rods (4, 5) are embedded in ceramic material or in glass (13), which in turn is preferably surrounded by a metallic envelope (14).
