The operator of the machine carries a portable detector (14) for detection of the magnetic field produced by the transmitter (10) located alongside the machine. A portable transmitter (15) is available to the operator for prodn. of a radio-transmittable amplitude-modulated signal. Adjacent to the machine are detectors (17-21) for detection of the radio signal, and a unit is available (22) for stopping the machine and indicating an alarm situation. - The portable detector (14) and transmitter (15,16) are assembled together to form a transponder. The detector (17-21) for detection of the radio signal and means (22) for indication of an alarm situation are connected to a unit (24-26) for testing the transponder prior to use. Indication of a fault situation in the transponder or in other parts of the system cause an immediate stop of the machine. |
