The mixing tool for a composting plant is a helical element without any central shafts which is joined at one end of the spiral to the output shaft of a motor. In pref. embodiments, the mixing tool, joined to the shaft of a drive motor, revolves slowly to raise the rotting compost. It consists of a serrated spiral strip and several stiffening layers which are joined to each other and are made of metal or a metal alloy. ADVANTAGE - The absence of a central shaft and of spokes reduces the power consumption and prevents any entanglement with stringy matter.
