This information device comprises a substrate (2) carrying two rows (7, 8) of ideographs representing part of the sewing designs which can be executed by the sewing machine, and a flap (9) articulated between these rows and carrying on each face a row of ideographs relating to another part of these sewing designs. This flap is capable of being tilted into two limiting positions overlapping either of the rows of ideographs of the substrate. For each ideograph, it has a window (15) revealing one of the diodes (17) associated with each ideograph of the substrate. Keys A and B make it possible to select each desired sewing design, the identity of which is marked by the ignition of the diode associated with the corresponding ideograph or visible through the window of the flap adjacent to this ideograph.
