PURPOSE:To obtain a sheet to receive thermal transfer generating no transfer omission and capable of obtaining a beautiful image, by specifying the smoothness and water absorbency of the surface provided with a barrier layer of a base sheet. CONSTITUTION:The smoothness of a base sheet on the side brought into contact with a barrier layer thereof is 6% or more, pref., 7% or more when measured under pressure of 20kg/cm<2> by a regular reflection type smoothness meter. Further, the 5-sec value of 'paper and cardboard water absorbency test method (Cobb method)' based on JIS-P8140 is 1-30g/cm<2>, more pref., 3-20g/m<2>. For example, a paper stock prepared by adding 0.4pts. of a rosin size, 10pts. of talc and 2.3pts. of aluminum sulfate to a pulp compound consisting of 30pts. of bleached NKP and 70pts. of bleached LKP is formed into paper by a Fourdrinier paper machine and a 5% thick solution of oxidized starch is applied to the paper by a size press while the sized paper is dried to be taken up. This paper is subjected to super calender treatment under such a condition that line pressure is 200kg/cm, the surface temp. of a chromium plated metal roll is 25 deg.C, a paper passing speed is 250m/min and the number of paper passing nips are four to form a sheet. |
