发明名称 METHOD AND DEVICE FOR WELDING AND CONNECTING MULTIFIBER OPTICAL CABLE
摘要 PURPOSE:To stably obtain optical fibers of a low connection loss by setting the heating time in such a manner that the average value of the individual loss when the fibers are heated for the prescribed heating time attains a min. value. CONSTITUTION:The optical fibers on one side are moved in an optical axis direction while said fibers are heated to the optical fibers on the other in order to pressurize the optical fibers 1, 2 in the optical axis direction. The optimum value of the moving quantity is set by welding conditions such as the spacing between the end faces, material quality and diameter of the fibers. The connection losses in the spacings between the end faces of the individual fiber can be calculated in accordance with the prescribed data if the moving distance of the fibers is designated as M and the spacing between the end faces as (d) and when the pushing length L of the end faces of the respective fibers is determined. The heating time to minimize the connection loss is, therefore, set by previously storing the moving quantity M, the spacing (d) between the end faces of the fibers and the connection loss alpha into the memory of a processor.
