<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a press felt containing resin particles and a binder system uniformly distributed therein by depositing a homogeneous foam of polymeric resin particles, a binder material and a solvent on the surface of a base fabric, then evenly distributing the foam on the surface of the base fabric in a layer of a uniform thickness and heat-treating the base fabric. CONSTITUTION: A homogeneous foam 3 of polymeric resin particles, a binder material and a solvent are fed from an outlet 4 of a feed pipe to a base fabric 1 in which yarns are interknitted in the machine direction and cross-machine direction while moving the base fabric 1 on a supporting table 2 of a horizontal surface. The foam 3 of the polymeric resin particles, binder material and solvent are then formed into a layer of a uniform thickness with a blade 5 to evenly distribute the foam 3 on the surface of the base fabric 1. The layer is subsequently heated with a heat source 1 to evaporate the solvent in the foam and fuse the polymeric resin particles to each other and to the base fabric 1. The binder material is simultaneously cured.</p> |
