A centrifugal separator comprising a rotor (1), which forms a first inlet chamber (8) for a liquid mixture of components, a separation chamber (6), outlets (4, 10) for separated components and a second inlet chamber (14) for an additional liquid. This second inlet chamber (14) is separated from the first inlet chamber (8) and via a passage (23) it communicates with a radially outer part of the separation chamber (6). The centrifugal separator also comprises devices (5, 12) for the supply of the liquid mixture and the additional liquid to the respective inlet chambers. To enable a supply of additional liquid at a high pressure the second inlet chamber (14) is divided by a partition (16) into a first department (17) receiving the additional liquid from one supply device (12), and a second department (18), which communicates with the first department via a centrally located opening (22) and with the separation chamber (6) via said passage (23). In the first department (17) a pump device (20) is arranged forming at least one pump channel. The pump device (20) shuts off together with the partition (16) the second department (18) from communication with the surrounding of the rotor and from other spaces in the rotor. |
