<p>PURPOSE:To make any foaming process unnecessary by applying a voltage onto a part of a semi-insulative thin film including particles disposed between a pair of electrodes so as o form an electron emitting section. CONSTITUTION:A semi-inuslative thin film 3 including particles is provided between a pair of electrodes 1 and 2 opposed on a substrate 5. A voltage is applied onto at least one part of the film 3 so as to enhance electric conductivity thereof, thereby forming an electron emitting section 4. The electrodes 1 and 2 are made of commonly used conductive material. The particles are made of commonly used cathode material having such a property as a low work function, a high melting point and a low steam pressure. The semi-insulative thin film 3 including the particles means one wherein the particles have such a structure as a so-called continuous film having an island structure and 10 to 1X10<5>OMEGA/port (sheet resistance) of electric resistance. Therefore, any foaming process is not required at all.</p> |
