The invention relates to a process for reducing the nitrogen oxide content of flue gases from coke oven batteries, the combustion media being mixed with flue gas which is branched off outside the refractory oven block. According to the invention, it is provided that the flue gas is branched off at a central point, raised to a higher pressure and passed to the feeders of the individual ovens via a distributor line running along the oven battery.
