<p>This invention relates to novel copolymers derived from diphenyl ether, terephthalic acid derivatives and a third monomer of the formula where n is 1 or 2. The copolymers can be prepared by FriedelCrafts polymerization. Preferred copolymers are derived from diphenyl ether, terephthaloyl chloride, and 1,4-diphenoxybenzene. The copolymers are economically and commercially preparable, are of high molecular weight, melt processable and have high temperature stability, mechanical strength and resistance towards common solvents.</p> |
