PURPOSE:To provide the recording medium having the long-period preservable property of recording and the high-speed erasing property of recording in combination by providing a recording layer consisting of an alloy of an A-Te system in which A is selected from As, Bi and Sb and which is of a single phase. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer consisting of the alloy (excluding the compds. of stoichiometric compsn.) of the A-Te system in which A is selected from the As, Bi and Sb and which is of the single phase. The representative examples of the alloy compsn. include AsxTe1-x (0.45<=x<=0.55), BixTe1-x (0.45<=x<=0.55), and SbxTe1-x (0.5<=x<=0.6). The recording layer is thus formed of the thin Te alloy formed by adding the element selected from the As, Bi and Sb to the Te at the concn. fairly higher than heretofore. The recording medium having the long-period preservable property of the writing state, the high-speed erasing property and the repetitiveness of the writing-erasing in combination is thereby obtd. |
