A light weight work deck constructed of tubular steel (22) with plate steel attachment plates (28) welded thereto. A plurality of variously configured removable panels (30,32,34,36,38,40) can be bolted in a configuration that can provide the work surface needed to accomplish the tasks of installing wellhead equipment, inspecting the below deck regions of the platform (10) or performing maintenance on such portions. A plurality of removable and foldable handrail sections (50,52) are installed about the periphery of the configured work surface. The work deck (20) can be retracted to a position immediately adjacent the lowermost fixed deck (17) to protect it from wind and waves when not in use. |
