PURPOSE:To improve the quality of an image by incorporating a copolymer of ethylenic hydrocarbon and vinyl acetate as copolymerizable components and a photoconductive substance which does not practically exhibit sensitivity to light for imagewise exposure into an intermediate layer. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer of optionally substd. ethylenic hydrocarbon and vinyl acetate as copolymerizable components is used as a binder in an intermediate layer 7 interposed between a photosensitive layer 8 and an electrically conductive support 1. The intermediate layer 7 contains a photoconductive substance which rectifies optical carriers generated in the photosensitive layer 8 at the time of exposure without reducing resistance as bulk, increases sensitivity and can lower residual potential. Since the photoconductive substance does not practically exhibit sensitivity to light for imagewise exposure, the resistance of the intermediate layer 7 is kept moderate, the injection of holes from the support side is effectively prevented and the occurrence of black spots can further be prevented. |
