Cyclododeca-1,5,9-triene is obtained by polymerizing butadiene in the presence of a catalyst obtained by adding a titanium tetrahalide to a constituent formed from dialkyl aluminium halide and water in a solvent, the amount of water being 0.2-0.9 moles per mole of aluminium. The Ti:Al molar ratio is preferably 1:2-20, titanium tetrachloride and diethyl aluminium chloride being the preferred combination. Reaction is effected in benzene or toluene at 20-60 DEG C. |
