<p>A hydraulic wheel motor (86, 88) and pump (40, 42) are provided for use with a motor vehicle having a pair of mechanically driven wheels (32, 34) and a pair of non-mechanically driven wheels (36, 38). The hydraulic pumps (40, 42) cooperate with the mechanically driven wheels (32, 34), and the hydraulic motors (86, 88) are coupled to the non-mechanically driven wheels (36, 38). The pumps (40, 42) and motors (86, 88) are diagonally connected to one another to create a four wheel drive vehicle. Also disclosed is an apparatus and method for independently controlling the tractive force of the vehicle wheels during a turning maneuver.</p> |
