<p>An article of furniture is disclosed which comprises a frame (10, 27, 45) made of metal and having several frame members (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26) to selected ones of which are attached fastener respective boards (32, 39, 47, 31) upholstery (35, 53/54, 76) being applied to the frame and secured thereto by fasteners (42, 43) engaging said boards. Said frame member/board combinations can be in the structure of the article of furniture and/or can be in a cushion (44, 6) of the article of furniture. There are further disclosed articles of furniture wherein the cushion (44, 62) of the article has at least its back and also optionally its lateral sides arranged in recesses within the chair structure and wherein springing for the chair is contained solely within the cushion. There is also disclosed a complementary and related method of construction.</p> |
