An electrolytic through-flow cell for the electrochemical treatment of radioactive product solutions, in particular product solutions from the PUREX process for reprocessing irradiated nuclear fuels, comprises a tubular housing with two electrodes connected as an anode and a cathode so that the cell can effect continuous treatment of nuclear fuel solutions with a high through-put and a very high level of yield, one of the electrodes in the interior of the housing is in the form of a packing of static mixing elements. The static mixing element packing (21) extends for the full cross-section of the housing (11). The packing may comprise short, folded or corrugated plates arranged in layers with each other to form open, mutually intersecting passages (Fig 2 not shown). The layers may be divided into zones of separate voltage acting as a cathode (Fig. 3 not shown). The housing may have a configuration which increases or decreases in diameter in a product discharge direction (Figs. 4 and 5 not shown). <IMAGE>
