White metal bearing alloy is applied to a bearing surface of a structure by loading the surface with a covering of flux, then rendering the flux molten by heat application, then progressively displacing the molten flux layer on the bearing surface with a moving body of liquid white metal. The resultant product is thereafter cooled. With this method atmospheric influences on the bearing surface are excluded and accordingly a tin interface layer is not required. |
