In a thermochemical absorption or desorption reaction between a gas and a solid in the presence of a heat carrier fluid, in which heat exchange between the reaction medium and an external medium occurs and in which the reaction takes place in a chamber in contact with a second reactor carrying out a reaction using at least one gas, the novelty comprises; - (a) determining, for the prevailing reactor pressure, the variation of the mean power of the reaction as a function of the difference between the heat carrier fluid temp. and the reaction equilibrium temp., given by the Clapeyron diagram, so as to define an optimal zone in which reaction takes place with a max. mean power; and (b) carrying out the reaction while controlling the heat carrier fluid at a reaction temp. such that reaction takes place in the optimal zone.
