PURPOSE:To obtain an oxide superconductor having high current density by packing raw material powder into a hollow cylinder consisting of a heat- resistant material, hermetically closing the cylinder, making a specific high- temperature zone and successively transferring the zone in the axial direction of the cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A hollow cylinder consisting of a heat-resistant material is packed with raw material powder, hermetically closed and a high-temperature zone perpendicular to the axial direction of the hollow cylinder, having small width in the axial direction, is formed. Then the raw material powder is sintered by successively transferring the high-temperature zone in the axial direction of the hollow cylinder and the crystal grain is subjected to conformity in the axial direction of the hollow cylinder to give the aimed superconducting material. In the production, since the high-temperature zone is successively transferred in the axial direction of the hollow cylinder, temperature gradient is formed and the temperature gradient becomes driving force to subject the crystal grain or crystal axis to conformity in the axial direction of the hollow cylinder. |
