The invention relates to a folding seat, especially a stool, which will be used particularly at public events or, more generally, for any temporary use. The seat 1 is formed by a seating surface 2 and an element 3 supporting the seating surface, both obtained by folding a single basic component. The element 3 supporting the seating surface is obtained by folding the said basic component so as to form a polygonal tubular element having at least one upper opening 5 and one lower opening 6. The seating surface 2 is obtained by folding one or more flaps 7, 8 bordering the said upper opening 5 and allowing the said tubular element 3 to hold its shape. <IMAGE>
