PURPOSE:To improve strength, toughness, friction resistance, loss resistance, oxidation resistance, heat resistance and corrosion resistance by blending SiC whisker and/or beta type Si3N4 whisker with a specific alkoxide solution and Si2N2O. CONSTITUTION:One or two or more kind of alkoxides selected from Al, Sc, Y and rare earth oxides are dissolved in a solvent (e.g., methanol) to provide a solution (B). Then (A) 5-40 pts.wt. SiC whisker and/or beta type Si3N4 whisker is blended with 0.5-30 pts.wt. (in terms of oxide) component B and (C) Si2N2O being 1.2:1.0-1.0:1.2 in molar ratio of Si3N4 with SiO2 so that total of components A, B and C is 100 pts.wt. and the blend is subjected to spray drying and then calcined at 100-1000 deg.C to afford a raw material base. Then the raw material base is sintered by hot press method, gas pressure sintering non-oxidizing properties, HIP method, etc., to provide the fiber reinforced ceramics. |
