Method for forming the coil overhangs of stators of electrical machines

A method using a mandrel which can be expanded radially is proposed for forming the coil overhangs of stators of electrical machines after the coils have been drawn in. In this case, it is necessary for the forming device to be designed such that the forming work can be carried out as long as the stator is located in the same clamping device in which it is also held for the coils to be drawn in. The use of a clamping mandrel is proposed having two mandrel sections which can be pushed axially into one another, on which pressure strips (11) are mounted via scissor-levers (9, 10). An expanding body (8) is placed on the front mandrel section. While the front mandrel section is seated on a stop (15), the rear mandrel section is pressed against the front mandrel section by means of a linear-motion device which is also used for drawing in the coils (see drawing). <IMAGE>
