<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the thin-film 2-terminal element type active matrix liquid crystal display device (TFD-LCD) of a low cost and high image quality by using an insulating holder dispersed with fine conductive powder as a nonlinear resistance layer and forming a 2-terminal element connected with electrodes to this layer. CONSTITUTION:The insulating holder 17 dispersed with the fine conductive powder 16 is used as the nonlinear resistance layer of the active matrix liquid crystal display device and the 2-terminal element connected with the electrodes 3, 6 is formed to the layer 13. Since the thin-film 2-terminal element (TFD) is made into the structure having always the extremely thin insulator layer between the particles of the fine conductive powder, the element exhibits an extremely large nonlinear resistance characteristic by a tunnel effect, barrier of the boundary face, etc. The active matrix liquid crystal display device of a high gradation and high image quality is thereby obtd. at the low cost.</p> |
