The invention relates to a process for producing a porous material made of a metal, comprising the following steps: introduction of a sintered body of predetermined shape formed of magnesia or calcia (calcium oxide, lime) particles into a heat-insulating housing, heating the sintered material together with the housing to a predetermined temperature, introduction of the heated sintered material into a metal mould, pressing a melt of iron, nickel, titanium or an alloy of these individual metals or a composed alloy of these metals into the sintered material for producing a composite material and also dissolving out only the sintered material particles from the cooled and solidified composite materials by means of a solvent.
