An ultraviolet-curable resin composition for producing an optical disc base plate comprising at least one compound selected from the compounds of the formulae:

wherein R1 is hydrogen or a halogen; R2 is an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms; R3 is hydrogen or a methyl group; m and n are independently an integer of 1 to 4, and a photopolymerization initiator.
The cured resin is used as a primer layer on a transparent substrate or as the transparent substrate for optical discs.
