Process for the metered mixing of pumpable additives into a melt flow of thermoplasticised material with the aid of a mixing device having a rotor and a stator, which form a gap between them. A specially designed mixing device is used. This mixing device is installed by its rotor into the screw shank of a plastics extruder or is connected onto the said screw shank. The stator is connected indirectly or directly to the barrel of the plastics extruder. The pumpable additives can be introduced into the mixing device with the aid of a pump at at least one circumferential point of the stator at the beginning of the rotor. <IMAGE>
