Process for position-stopping of a device (1) provided with a horizontal drum (5) rotated by an asynchronous electric motor (6), characterized in that it comprises means for signalling the position of the drum (5), means for interrupting an electric path supply in the normal operating mode of the electric drive motor (6) and a power supply in the stopped mode of this electric motor in which (6) the electric current injected into the latter is of the rectified type, representing a continuous adjustable component and providing electromagnetic braking at an adjustable power to cause the stoppage of said motor (6) and said drum (5), and correct alignment of the door (7) of said drum (5) with the door (6) of the device (1). Said braking is sequenced in time by a synchronization signal supplied by a position-detector.
