An oxygen sensor comprises an ellectrically conductive substrate (I) and electrolytic oxydative polymeric membrane (II) coating a surface of (I), (II) comprising at least one substance selected from porphyrin cpds. and metal complexes of porphyrin cpds. Pref. (I) is ellectrically conductive carbon, and porphyrin cpds. are hydroxy aromatic derivs.-substd. or amino aromatic derivs.-substd. porphrin cpds. at meso position. The PO2 (mmHg) reducing current correlation exhibits good linearity at a constant temp.. Ths enables the PO2 concn. to be measured from this calibration curve. The sensor has excellant selectivity to oxygen due to no interfering substance.
