A process for producing crosslinked polymers comprises (A) continuosly supplying (1) aq. soln. of the monomers which, when aq. soln.-polymerized, form crosslinking structure and become water- contg. gel-like polymers, and (2) polymerization initiators to vessels fitted with rotary stirring axes, (B) crushing the water- contg. gel-like polymers formed by radical aq. soln. polymerization with shear generated by rotation of stirring axes, and (C) discharging continuously the water-contg gel-like polymers formed. Pref. monomers include monomer mixts. comprising (A) one or more of (meth) acrylic acid, their alkali metal salts.
