The aluminium car wheel rim is produced froma annular, seamless blank (13), rolled to the required cross-section by a profiled roller (12) which passes through the blank and then presses it against a profiled bore (11) of an annular tool (10). During the shaping the blank is freely suspended, with the shafine pressure applied also to the suspension point. The profiled roller is mounted on a rotary shaft (16), whilst the tool is supported in a ring (9) which rotates in a ball bearing (8).
