PURPOSE:To simplify assembly of a battery to a great extent and lessen voltage drop by coupling electrode plates each consisting of a pair of electrodes, positive and negative, at the joint part, forming an electrode plate group in which such electrode plates and separators are piled up alternately, and arranging this group of electrode plates so that the joint part is fitted in a slit provided in the battery jar bulkhead CONSTITUTION:Each electrode plate consisting of a pair of electrodes, positive and negative, is formed by filling one of the lattices made of lead alloy with pos. electrode paste 8 and the other with neg. electrode paste 9, wherein this pair of lattices 1 are conjugated at the junction 4 which works as an intercell connecting conductor, and such electrode plates and separators are piled up alternately to provide an electrode plate group and arranged so that the junction 4 is fitted in a slit provided in the battery jar bulkhead. This does not require strap welding of intermediate cells and intercell connections while strap welding of positive and negative electrode plates of end cells remains to be done according to conventional procedures, which however simplifies the assembly processes of battery. Further the intercell connecting path is short, which lessens voltage drop when the battery is discharged. |
