To raise and lower rolling shutter doors (sliding gates), rolling grilles, awnings and the like, use is made of a driving device in which the housing part accommodating the drive motor and the control box are arranged parallel and adjacent to one another and on the same side of the hollow shaft. The driving motor is fitted with an extended armature and is connected via a stepped drive shaft to the worm gear mechanism. The limit switch arranged in the control box is, for its part, connected via an operating shaft to the hollow shaft, which meshes in an eccentrically arranged worm drive of the limit switch, thereby ensuring, overall, a markedly reduced width of the housing accommodating the entire drive motor while providing optimum operating conditions. This favourable arrangement of the individual parts of the driving device ensures that the necessary power is transmitted from the drive motor to the hollow shaft via the reduction gear mechanism.
