PURPOSE:To make a clamping device compact by disposing a screw mechanism to drive a toggle link mechanism in the direction square to the pressing centerline. CONSTITUTION:A fixed platen 3, a rear platen 4 and a movable platen 5 of a clamping device 1 are disposed in parallel on a machine frame 2 of a molding machine main body. The rear platen 4 and the movable platen 5 are connected by a toggle link mechanism 7, and said link mechanism 7 is provided with a screw mechanism 8, and the screw mechanism 8 connecting upper and lower connecting sections 9 and 9' is disposed crossing at right angles to the pressing centerline (m) when it is viewed from the front side. The output of a clamping motor 13 working almost at right angles to the pressing centerline (m) through a ball screw 12 is converted to the clamping force in the direction of pressing centerline (m) by the toggle mechanism 7, and the clamping force is increased as the angle formed with partial links (a) and (b) to be sufficient for the clamping force around the time of completion of clamping. |
