Apparatus for diverting pipe-line scrapers, plugs, pigs &c., which are propelled through pipe-lines to scrape deposits from the inner walls thereof, at the intersection of at least three pipe-lines comprises a housing 10 with ports such as 12, 14, 16 each arranged to be connected to a pipe-line, a conduit 50 rotatably mounted within the housing 10 for selectively connecting a pair of adjacent ports 12, 14, 16, the conduit 50 being in the form of a pipe section smoothly curved in the axial direction and adapted to be positioned in full-flow communication between the two connected ports, and an operating shaft 40 being provided for rotating the conduit within the housing. The conduit 50 is welded within a cylindrical body 28 which is rotatably mounted by a pin 30 in a cylindrical chamber 26 within the housing 10, the space between the conduit 50 and the inner walls of the body 28 preferably being filled, e.g. with rubber, or plastics, material. The operating shaft 36 extends upwardly through a stuffing box 52 in a cover flange 22 bolted to the upper face of the housing 10 and carries an angular shaped operating handle 46 which has embossed thereon a double-ended arrow to indicate the position of the conduit 50. The handle 46 carries a stud 64 which can be screwed into one of three nuts 66 secured to the cover flange 22 to secure the handle in its selected position. The conduit 50 is spaced, e.g. from 1/32 to 1/16 of an inch, from the wall of the housing. A conduit with a 90-degree bend would be employed with a junction of four pipelines.</p> |
