<p>This device consists of a number of magnetic heads (such as Y1, X1, Y2, ...) of different sizes which can be moved along the surface of the recording element (11) and which are excited selectively so as to form magnetised spots of different sizes on this surface. These spots are centred along the lines D1, D2, D3, etc., this excitation being carried out in such a way that the magnetised spots thus formed on this surface do not overlap each other.
