The metallic skeleton of the structure comprises orthogonal rows of hollow rectangular girders (1) and smaller joints (2) having their faces (3,4) inclined at 45 deg. to the horizontal. The slabs (5) are positioned in the spaces between joists, with their similarly inclined lower edges (6) carried by the joists' upper faces (3,4). The girders and joists are open at intersections for e.g. branching of wiring looms. Additional ducts are formed under planks (11) laid above the girders and between vertical edges (12) of upstanding central portions (9) of adjacent slabs, whose lower faces may simulate brick arches (7). The undersides of girders and joists may carry decorative tiles (14,15).
