摘要 1,251,076. Knitting machines. S. A. MONK (SUTTON-IN-ASHFIELD) Ltd. 12 Sept., 1969 [19 Sept., 1968], No. 44560/68. Heading D1C. In a straight-bar or flat knitting machine, a hooked take-up bar is engageable with loops of an initial course of each successive work piece produced, the bar being intermittently moved between knitting traverses linearly away from the needles or sinkers to apply tension to the work which is later drawn off by a pair of rollers, the work being disengaged from the hooks, at least one of the rollers being driven intermittently in time with the movements of the bar. Between fixed frame needles 3 are frame needles 3' carried in a vertically displaceable bar beneath component 7 of frame needle bar 2 so as to be slidable into inoperative positions for rib knitting leaving spaces S in which the machine needles 9 operate. Needles 9 have inner elements with operating butts 9a controlled by a cam-operated actuating bar 10. Sinkers 6 in sinker bed 5 sink the loops round the frame needles. For each division of the machine is provided a take-up bar 12 with hooks 13 engageable with the loops il of the initial course of a piece of work and actuated by initial racking means and then further racking means both driven by one motor to draw the work off until it is taken by roller 15 which is racked in time with the movements of bar 12, the work piece being finally deposited in a receptacle 16. Secured by pins 22 to the ends of bar 12 are cam pieces 23 connected by links biassed by springs 20 to housings 19 mounted on endless chains 18 carried on sprockets including driven sprockets 24 which are rotated clockwise or anticlockwise. The springs 20 across the divisions of the machine take up local irregularities in the length of fabric formed. Pins 25 on cam pieces 23 engage tracks 26 to hold bar 12 horizontal until it passes beyond rollers 14, 15 when the tracks 26 are cut away so that the bar 12 drops to carry the fabric between rollers 14, 15 and to disengage the hooks 13. Roller 14 is temporarily raised to allow bar 12 to pass the rollers 14, 15 which are then rotated intermittently between carrier traverses by the action of cams 29. When required, the bar 12 is returned to its starting position by electric motor 31 and the top surfaces of cam guides 29 engage pins 25 to ensure that it returns with the hooks horizontal and correctly aligned, the guides 29 blocking gaps 27. A tuning drum indirectly coupled with shaft 33 which carries sprocket 24 has plates 112 which, at intervals, receive the rollers 113 of micro switches 114 to control the functions of bar 12. The motor drives shaft 33 through one clutch or preferably two clutches so that the transmission is balanced. Shaft 33 is driven clockwise by rackwheel 47 and pawl 48 and anti-clockwise through rack wheel 35 and pawl 36 as seen in Fig. 8. Shaft 33 drives all but three of the bars 12 on the machine and these are driven by shaft (133) and this is arranged so that, in the event of excessive tension being applied to the fabric, a switch (134) will be operated to disconnect the drive see Fig. 10 (not shown).
