PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition, containing an alkaline thickening type copolymer latex as a binder, capable of providing a coating layer, having sufficient water holding properties and excellent in air permeability and suitable for gravure printing. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition, containing (A) 100 pts.wt. pigment and (B) 5-15 pts.wt. alkaline thickening type copolymer latex, prepared by emulsion copolymerization of (i) 1-8wt.% ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid with (ii) 1-5wt.% vinyl ester of a lower fatty acid, (iii) 10-50wt.% ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid ester, (iv) 35-70wt.% aliphatic conjugated diene and (v) 5-30wt.% aromatic vinyl monomer and having 3-15 alkaline thickening index as a binder. The alkaline thickening index of the above- mentioned composition is 30-80. |
