The subject of the invention is a method for preventing undesirably high charging of a rechargeable, 2-pole electrochemical storage cell having solid electrolytes (2) and at least one reaction partner which is fluid at the working temperature. A space (8) is provided for the fluid reaction partner, which space is divided from the other reaction partner by means of the solid electrolyte (2). In the event of undesirably high charging, an electrical circuit is made between the fluid reaction partner and a discharge electrode of the other reaction partner or the pole connected to the working electrode, by a pressure increase taking place in the space (8) for the fluid reaction partner and/or by an increase in the volume of the fluid reaction partner taking place in the space for the fluid reaction partner, above a limit value. <IMAGE>
