Sheet-conveying drum for sheet-fed rotary printing machines

A sheet-conveying drum for sheet-fed rotary printing machines is proposed, in which the jacket surface is provided with a jacket foil (20). It has been shown that, when processing types of paper of different thickness, particularly thin sheets tend to continue running on the impression or rubber-covered cylinders. In order to avoid this continued running, it is proposed to provide a sheet-conveying drum (11) with an element with which the diameter of the sheet-conveying drum (11) can be changed. For this purpose, carrier elements, consisting of a metal carrier plate (21) with supports (22) are arranged below the jacket foil (20), which carrier elements support the jacket foil resiliently over its entire surface. The jacket foil (20) is fixed on the sheet-conveying drum (11) by means of an adjusting device (25). Tensioning the jacket foil (20) using the adjusting device (25) causes a change in the outside diameter of the foil due to the resilient effect of the supports (22). This therefore provides a possibility to adapt the sheet-conveying drum (11) to different thicknesses of paper. <IMAGE>
