<p>An intra-uterine pessary comprises two deployable arms (1) which are elongate during insertion and annular when in position. Ideally, it should be possible to finely adjust or control the elongation or deployment of the pessary without using plastics or an open-armed deployable structure. For this purpose, the two deployable arms (1), whether elongate or annular, form a closed structure traversed by a third arm (12), the ends of which engage respectively the deployable arms (1) and an abutment stop (14) associated with the deployable arms (1) and which can be mechanically shortened in order to deploy the pessary. The two deployable arms (1) are made of metal wire which is elastically deformable during deployment, and the abutment stop (14) is seated on the deployable arms (1). The material of which the deployable arms are made and the arrangement of the abutment stop permit fine adjustment of the deployed width of the intra-uterine pessary when used as a contraceptive.</p> |
