The invention relates to an apparatus for the production of coin rolls, with a feed track 9 for coins 7 lying flat, with a tilting station 15 for transferring the coins 7 lying flat into an on-edge position, and with a winding station 16 for forming the coin roll 13 from the on-edge coins combined to form a coin stack 14. To increase the coins 7 to be combined into coin stacks 14 and packaged in coin rolls 13 per unit time and to reduce the overall size of the apparatus, the invention provides for forming the tilting station 15 from two parallel rails 17, which adjoin the feed track 9 in the longitudinal direction and the spacing of which is somewhat smaller than the diameter of the coins 7, and from at least one coin retainer 32 which is provided with a setting surface 35 for the coins 7, directed obliquely relative to the conveying direction of the coins 7, and which is mounted tiltably opposite to the conveying direction of the coins 7 counter to a restoring force. <IMAGE>
