PURPOSE:To obtain a silage as a livestock feed having good preservability and unique perfume and flavor by incorporating a raw sap-rich feed crop with a specific aliphatic oxycarboxylic acid to effect lactic acid fermentation to prevent contamination due to miscellaneous bacteria growth. CONSTITUTION:A raw sap-rich feed crop (e.g., unmatured corn, sorghum, oat, barley, soybean, sweet potato) is spiked with a 3-6C aliphatic oxycarboxylic acid (pref., malic acid or citric acid) to effect lactic acid fermentation, thus obtaining the objective silage. |
