The invention comprises a dynamically correlated set of golf clubs, each club having a shaft with a grip at one end and a head at the other, the clubs having (a) substantially the same moment of inertia about a corresponding predetermined point, (b) deficient shaft lengths and head weights (c) shafts and grips of uniform weight and (d) the same stiffness characteristic and (e) heads of similar design. The clubs may be produced by determining the moment of inertia of a first club by means of a torsional pendulum, adjusting the head weight of a second club in the series until the second club has a substantially equal moment of inertia to that of the first club, plotting the club length and head weight values of the two clubs on a log-log graph, connecting the two points obtained with a straight line and assembling on the remaining shafts of the set heads having the appropriate weights as determined by the graph. Alternatively the moments of inertia of a club when provided with heads of different weight, are measured by a torsional pendulum and the moments of inertia and the head weights for each shaft length of club are plotted on a linear graph and connected by a straight line for each club and heads of appropriate weights as determined by the graph are assembled on the shafts of the set.</p> |
