PURPOSE:To improve the long term durability of a roll by forming the inner layer out of a steel having a specific compressive yield strength for a composite ring roll for which the outer and inner layers are diffusion joined by hot isostatic pressing. CONSTITUTION:An outer layer 2 is made of a wear resistant high alloy material and an inner layer 3 is made of a high tough steel to form a composite ring rolls 1, 1. In that case, the layer 3 is formed out of a steel of a compressive yield strength of 90kg/mm<2> and the interface with the layer 2 is diffusion joined by hot isostatic pressing. As for rolling by fixing the rolls 1, 1 to the roll shaft 5, generation of plastic deformations and inside diameter enlargement caused by repeated loads is prevented because of the high compressive yield strength of the layer 3. Therefore, the long term durability of the rolls 1, 1 is improved. |
