PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber having excellent tensile strength, by spinning a novel silicon-containing polymeric compound having a specific recurring unit, infusibilizing the obtained fiber by heating at a specific temperature and heating the product at a high temperature in vacuum, etc. CONSTITUTION:A fiber is produced preferaby by the melt-spinning or dry- spinning of a silicon-containing polymeric compound containing the recurring unit of formula (n is 0-10; R1 is H, alkyl or aryl; R2 is alkylene or phenylene) (preferably polymer of vinylsilane or polymer of butenylsilane). The obtained fiber is infusibilized by heating in an oxygen-containing gas at 50-300 deg.C and then heated in vacuum or in an inert gas at 500-2,000 deg.C to obtain the objective fiber. |
